Interests: 
Majid AHMADI is a materials scientist and electron microscopist with more than twelve years industry and research background. He received his B.Sc. in Materials Sciences and Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) and his M.Sc. in Materials Science and Corrosion Engineering at University of Tehran. In 2008 he joined the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as a material scientist and corrosion engineer. He did start his Ph.D. in Chemical-Physics at the University of Puerto Rico, PR, USA in 2011 and graduated in 2014. His Ph.D. thesis is about synthesis of photocatalylic materials for water splitting and water oxidation applications and characterizing them using advanced electron microscopy and microanalysis techniques (e.g., JEM-2200FS HRTEM with a Cs probe corrector). He has good expertise in quantitative techniques such as EELS, EDS and SAED and enjoys characterizing nanomaterials using the proper methods. He has done some in-situ heating, in-situ AFM and STM studies using suitable TEM equipment and holders. He has joined Herman’s group in 2014 as a postdoctoral fellow researcher at Oregon State University to work on synthesis, characterization and application of cadmium-free, CuInS2/ZnS2, quantum dots (QDs) in collaborative project with Pacific Light Technology (PLT) and Sharp Laboratories of America (SLA).
