Problem Statement:

The Kinect sensor, which is used in Xbox devices, can collect gait data without the need for contact with the human body. Recent research in HSE Lab demonstrated that the collected gait data can be analyzed by artificial intelligence methods to support early detection, remote monitoring, or physical rehabilitation in Parkinson’s disease. As the next step, HSE Lab wants to develop a prototype of a Kinect-based physical therapy device which can be used in a clinic or community setting. The device will include a Kinect sensor, a monitor to provide instructions to the patient, and a laptop/tablet to save the collected motion data.
