(EMF) hosts a FEI Quanta 3D Field Emission Dual Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM/FIB) with EBSD capabilities, FEI Quanta 600F Field Emission Environmental SEM, FEI Nova NanoSEM 230 High Resolution SEM. All microscopes are equipped with X-ray energy dispersive spectrometers to conduct chemical analysis.

TEM facilities The EMF at OSU maintains an FEI Titan TEM/STEM with ChemiSTEM capabilities available to academic users for an hourly recharge. The capabilities relevant to this proposal are:

  • XFEG, high brightness/stability field emission electron source with selectable acceleration voltages, 80-200 kV
  • 0.24 nm TEM resolution; 0.16 nm STEM resolution
  • High angle annular dark field detector (HAADF) STEM detector
  • UltraScan 1000XP model 994 digital camera
  • Equipped for in-situ heating experiments up to 1000°C
  • EFTEM and EELS via a Tridiem GIF
