The Louis Research Group focuses its endeavors on seamlessly integrating analytical techniques such as simulation and machine learning with cutting edge technological paradigms such as the internet of things and automation to create solutions tailor-made for the built environment and construction site. The group is led by Joseph Louis, Ph.D., and comprises of a team of researchers in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University.
Construction is an industry and a practice that poses several fascinating and interesting challenges to the inquisitive mind due to its unique nature. Construction sites defy conventional means of monitoring and control due to their areal extent, wide range of processes in dynamically evolving environments, and the uncertainty inherent in their operations. Our group works collaboratively with partners is other disciplines, industry, and funding agencies to explore means to make construction and the operations of built environments safer, faster, and cheaper. Take a look around our website to learn about the work that we do and please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions of ideas for collaboration.
