This is Duy Nguyen's honors project. The purpose of the project is to help people with ALS getting attention of listeners back after the person finish typing. For example, some people with ALS need to use a machine to help them communicate with others. While those people are typing their thought, listeners might let their mind wander around. We want to detect that and get the listeners's attention back right before the people with ALS start talking. Hence, they will be able to listen to the people with ALS more carefully and the people with ALS won't fell the rudeness or disrespect from the listeners. Right now, the easiest way that we know to detect attention is through eyes gaze. I am using the Xuuk hardware in order to detect the eyes gaze. However, there might be another cue that we might be able to detect and that is the eyes dialate.
