The Personal Robotics Group at Oregon State University focuses on developing the tools, algorithms and techniques for personal robots. Putting robots into real homes to help those with severe physical disabilities, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and quadriplegia, is a long-term goal for our research. Dr. Smart and his students advance the state-of-the-art in shared autonomy, privacy and learning from demonstration to facilitate constructive interactions between people and robots.
