Overview

Description

This project was undertaken by three REU interns over the summer of 2014. The goal was to build several interface apps that help users control a privacy-conscious robotic system. Sub-projects included:

  • An operator's interface with restrictred movement options, i.e., moving is only allowed along a hallway, not into any rooms
  • Pinpointing the robot's position on a floorplan
  • Interactively specifying objects to redact in 3D space, even as arbitrary polygonal shapes

Future Plans

We hope to conduct several user studies assessing the extent to which people "snoop" when controlling a robot, the extent to which different redaction filters are distracting (or not!), and the usability of different kinds of floorplans and maps.
