The Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) at Oregon State University is replicated on the MSF ETUs. The ETU has two full-size cots, an IV pole, medical tray, and various medical supplies. The ETU has overhead webcams and a laser range finder to give situational awareness to the robots and operators.
We are interested in examining both what current robotic technology can do in this space, as well as finding out what tweaks can/need to be made to the environment to make it friendlier for automation.
In short, our ETU serves as a suitable environment from which test a variety of approaches, while also being a springboard to develop robot-friendlier environments for easily deployable treatment units.
