This course introduces systems engineering and data analytics applications in the healthcare context, with an emphasis on the integration of healthcare and well-being technologies. A basic overview of the U.S. healthcare delivery system, its components, and challenges will be provided. The course will develop a fundamental understanding of quantitative tools used to perform system analysis and modelling, evaluate and improve overall system quality and performance, and assess the impacts of technology integration into healthcare. Independent learning and practical applications are reinforced through homework, case studies, and projects.
HSE Lab sponsors three capstone projects in 2017-18 academic year. The overall objective of these projects is to help undergraduate engineering students investigate an emerging innovative healthcare technology and its applications in physical rehabilitation.
