Current Ph.D. Students

 

 Mahdi Kabiri, Ph.D. Student (2022-present)

Mahdi is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. He is from Tehran, Iran. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2020 from Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (Babol, Iran). His research is focused on manufacturing process and system modeling for efficient, resilient, and sustainable supply chains.

 

 

Dolor Enarevba, Ph.D. Student (2022-present)

Dolor is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. He is from Ughelli, Delta State in the Southern part of Nigeria, West Africa. He received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria. His research area is in Sustainable Life Cycle Engineering, and he is currently focusing on understanding the Industrial Processes and Environmental Impacts of Hemp Production.

 

Eray Aksit, Ph.D. Student (2021-present)

Eray is pursuing a joint Ph.D. in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at OSU, co-advised by Dr. Karl Haapala and Dr. Iman Ghamarian. He holds master’s degrees in both Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and has extensive skills and knowledge of advanced materials research and development, gained through over 20 years of engineering and educational experiences.  During his career, he has gained various degrees of experiences in aerospace airframe and major joins, manufacturing processes for metals, composites and ceramics, quality enhancement projects, corrosion prevention projects, welding technologies, research and development for manufacturing, novel metallic alloys research, and carbon fibers and polymer matrix composite research. His research is focused on artificial intelligence, deep learning, powder bed fusion additive manufacturing, and predictive manufacturing methods.

 

Thidarat Sawai, Ph.D. Student (2021-present)

Thidarat is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at OSU. She is originally from Sisaket, in northeast of Thailand. She received her master's degree in solar energy from the University of Perpignan, France. Before joining OSU, she worked in policymaking, promoting and implementing solar energy usage in industries and rural areas in public sector. Her current research is focused on multi-criteria decision-making methods to assist energy system design and technology selection in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing, rural, and disadvantaged areas.

 

Asmaa Harfoush, Ph.D. Student (2020-present)

Asmaa Harfoush is pursuing a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at OSU, co-advised by Dr. Ali Tabei and Dr. Karl Haapala. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. She received both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Production Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 2011 and 2015, respectively. She is currently exploring the intersection of AI and incremental sheet metal forming.

Mario Israel Riofrio Sabando, M.S. Student (2022-present)

 

Mario Israel Riofrio Sabando is pursuing an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and is a graduate student operations manager in the OSU Energy Efficiency Center/Industrial Assessment Center. After receiving his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Guayaquil, Ecuador, he gained a decade of experience in the metal manufacturing industry, including high-paced environments in naval, structural, and agricultural welding. His research focuses on energy and resource-efficient, socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes.

 

Kaushik Gijare, M.S. Student (2021-present)

Kaushik is pursuing an M.S. in Industrial Engineering. He is from India. His research interests are in sustainable manufacturing and circular economy, especially applied to battery technology. His research is focusing on smart and sustainable additive manufacturing. 

 

Maritza Perez, M.S. Student (2021-present)

Maritza is pursuing an M.S. in Industrial Engineering. She is from Wilsonville, Oregon. She received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University in 2021. She currently serves as a graduate operations manager in the OSU Energy Efficiency Center/Industrial Assessment Center. Her research is investigating industrial energy efficiency.

                

Anuj Gupte, M.S. Student (2021-present)

Anuj is pursuing an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He is from India. His research is investigating the development and application of smart manufacturing technology in real-time sustainability assessment.
