Suraj Panicker, Ph.D. Student (2023)Suraj received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tampere University (Finland), co-advised by Dr. Eric Coatanea and Dr. Karl Haapala. His work developed a hybrid metamodeling approach for improving the quality of high-temperature superconductors using additive manufacturing. He received his M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University in 2017, majoring in Advanced Manufacturing and minoring in Mechanical Engineering. His research focused on bottom-up cost modeling for continuous production processes. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. He accepted a postdoctoral research position with Tampere University.

Hari Nagarajan, Ph.D. Student (2022)Hari is recieved a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tampere University (Finland), co-advised by Dr. Eric Coatanea and Dr. Karl Haapala. His work is developed a metamodeling approach for improving the mechanical and metallurgical properties of components produced using additive manufacturing processes. He is from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a coastal city in the southern part of India, and received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Production Engineering in 2014 from Velammal Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He received his M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University in 2017, focusing on sustainablity characterization of additive manufacturing processes. Other research interests include, Life Cycle Engineering, Material Processing using Additive Manufacturing, and Information Framework Development for Additive Manufacturing Sustainability Evaluation. He accepted a position with VTT in Espoo, Finland.

Arvind Shankar Raman, Ph.D. (2022)Arvind is received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He is from India. He received his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (2007) and Master's in Mechanical Engineering (2013) from Pondicherry Engineering College & Washington State University, respectively. His current research area is Sustainable Life Cycle Engineering with a focus on Developing Standardized Framework Models for Unit Manufacturing Processes. Other research interests are in Bio-based design, Axiomatic Design Approach, Additive Manufacturing, and Remanufacturing. He accepted a position with Applied Materials.

Kamyar Raoufi (2020)Kamyar received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. He is from Iran and grew up in Tehran. He received his B.S. in IE (2009) and M.S. in IE (2011) from Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) and Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), respectively. His research focused on Sustainable Life Cycle Engineering. Other research interests include Supply Chain Network Design, Sustainability, Forward and Reverse Logistics, Recycling and Remanufacturing, Transport Network Design, Distribution, and Production Planning, and Manufacturing Systems. Anh Tong, Ph.D. (2017)Anh received her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering co-advised by Dr. Javier Calvo and Dr. Karl Haapala. She received her B.S in Mathematics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2008 and M.S. in Engineering Management from St. Martin’s University in 2014. She is a member of ASME, IIE, ASSE, and has been inducted in the honor society of Pi Mu Epsilon. Anh worked on developing a sustainable building design guide for Oregon Department of Transportation. Her research focused on integrating systems thinking and sustainability assessment methodologies to evaluate sustainability performance of complex systems. She is working as an Operations Researcher at the Pentagon, and previously was a research engineer at the National Institutes of Health. |

Amin Mirkouei, Ph.D. (2016)Amin received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. He is from Tehran, Iran and received his B.S. in IE (2009) and M.S. in IE (2011) from University of Tehran. His research investigated optimal and sustainable feedstock supply chains for biomass processing. He holds a tenure-track faculty position at University of Idaho-Idaho Falls. |

Babak Lajevardi, Ph.D. (2015)Babak received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering co-advised by Dr. Brian Paul and Dr. Karl Haapala. His Ph.D. developed a new method for data room energy efficiency monitoring. He received his M.S. in IE (2012) from Oregon State focusing on laser welding for microdevice manufacturing. He is a Data Scientist with Intel. |

Hao Zhang, Ph.D. (2014)Hao received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering co-advised by Dr. Javier Calvo and Dr. Karl Haapala. He is from Shangqui (Henan province), China and received his B.S. in IE (2009) in Beijing and M.S. in IE (2012) from OSU. His research led to a novel system modeling approach for sustainable manufacturing systems and decision support for enterprises. Other research interests include process sustainability optimization, social impact assessment of manufacturing systems, systems thinking, and engineering ethics. He holds a tenure-track faculty position at James Madison University. |
